Changes in the service schedule
  • Eimskip focuses on providing a choice of
    internationally competitive, high-quality
    transportation and logistic services
  • The changes that are now undertaken concern
    transport between Iceland and Europe, incl.
    Scandinavia
  • No changes will be made to the American route nor
    Iceland Coastal services
  • Two container vessels more suited for the changes
    have been purchased
  • Transport capacity to Europe will increase
  • Transit times will be similar as they have been

Two routes between Iceland and Europe instead of
three
  • The Sudurleid route (Iceland-Immingham-Rotterdam
    ) remains the same besides the change in vessels
  • The Nordurleid route (Iceland-Hamburg-Scandinavi
    a) and Strandleid route (Iceland-Faroes-Immingha
    m-Rotterdam) will be discontinued
  • New route named Nordurleid combines the former
    Nordurleid and Strandleid
  • Reykjavík - Eskifjördur - Thórshavn - Rotterdam -
    Hamburg - Aarhus - Göteborg - Fredrikstad -
    Thórshavn - Reykjavík
  • In week 36 calls at Copenhagen, Helsingborg and
    Klaksvík will be discontinued

New vessels
  • Two vessels with a capacity of 1,457 TEUs have
    been purchased
  • They will be named Godafoss and Dettifoss.
  • They sail on the Nordurleid route,
    Iceland-Rotterdam-Hamburg-Scandinavia
  • Godafoss will enter into service September 4th in
    Rotterdam
  • Dettifoss will enter into service October 23rd in
    Rotterdam
  • Scheduled calls in ports

Technical information about the vessels Godafoss
and Dettifoss
  • Built in Ørskov værft in Denmark in 1995
  • 1457 TEU nominal or 687 FEU plus 68 TEU capacity.
    Homogenous load 1068 TEU of 14 ton.
  • Box flexibility 20, 40, 45, 48, wide body
    and high cube. Hold no. 4 5 interchangeable
    40or 45 cells. Free height in holds allow for 4
    tiers 96 in all holds, except in hold no. 1 and
    2.
  • 400 reefer plugs. Shaft generator able to supply
    power for 290 reefers. Remote reefer container
    monitoring system.
  • Speed 20 knots with 56,5 t. oil mileage. 33 t.
    consumption per 18 miles.
  • 2 cranes of 40 tons.
  • Ice class 1B.
  • Bow- and sternthruster (each 900 KW).
  • Scantling draft 8,95 m. and design draft 8,5 m.
  • Length 166 m. and breadth 27,2 m. or 11
    container rows (BRU2)

Changes to fleet
  • Godafoss will be named Skógafoss
  • from August 21
  • Nordurleid route Godafoss and Dettifoss
  • Sudurleid route Selfoss and Lagarfoss
  • North America route Bakkafoss and Skógafoss
  • Iceland Coastal Services Mánafoss
  • Brúarfoss will be sold or used for other projects
  • The chartered vessels Thor Lone, Hanse Duo and
    Hansewall will be returned

Transfer period Sept. 4 - Oct. 23
  • Since the vessels enter into service at different
    times, the old and the new system will be run
    simultaneously from Sept. 4th to Oct. 23rd
  • Customers should pay special attention to
    different loading and discharging times in
    Rotterdam and Hamburg in this period
  • The new service schedule is available at our
    offices or at the www.eimskip.com

  • Customers should pay attention to new closing
    times for cargo in ports and provide their
    suppliers with that information
  • New shipping instructions for each port can be
    found at www.eimskip.com
