2Opening PowerPoint
- Go to start
- Select programs
- Select Microsoft PowerPoint
3Create a New Presentation
- There are four choices
- Auto Content Wizard
- Design template
- Blank presentation
- Open and existing presentation
- Choose design template and click OK
4Choosing Design Template
- The next dialog box will ask you to choose which
template - Click one time to preview templates
- Select Nature
- Click OK
5Auto Layout
- Auto layout is the different slide designs such
as - Title
- Bulleted list
- Bulleted list and clipart
- 2 column text
- Table
- Text and chart
- Click on the title slide ( first slide in auto
layout

- Go to File Menu/Save
- Click on Desktop button to the left
- Double click on PPT Workshop Folder
- Type your name in the File name area
- Click Save

- Title

- 3 blank slides to use the drawing tools

14Adding Slides with Common Task
- Click first arrow to the left, select slide
layout and repeat for each slide - Choose bulleted list, text and clipart two
column, 3 blank slides
- Add other slides in by using Common Task in the
format toolbar.
15Adding Slides with Insert Menu
- Go to Insert Menu
- Select New Slide
- Choose which auto layout
- Repeat these steps until you have all the slides
suggested

- Click inside text box to type title
- Click inside text box to type subtitle
17Bulleted List Slide
- Click inside text box to type title
- Click inside text box to type bulleted list
- Click on demote green right arrow in the format
toolbar - Click on promote green left arrow in the format
toolbar
18Text and Clip Art Slide
- Click in text boxes and type information
- Double click on clip art icon (picture) to add
clip art - Select the animal category, then select the lion
- Select the top insert clip button (this button
pastes the image onto the slide) - To resize clip art,click and drag from corners
selection boxes for proportional resizing

- Click inside this text box to type in the first
column - Line 1
- Line 2
- Click in this text box to type in the second
column - Line 1
- Line 2

21Tips for Selecting, Pasting, and Enlarging
- Select objects/text by clicking once on them
- To select parts of text, click and drag over text
to be changed - Hold the shift key down while drawing a straight
line or arrow line and to resize proportionally - To select many items,click one item then hold
down the shift key and click on other items - To move or copy text click on text box selection
line twice - To draw rectangle or oval, click drag to desired
size and release mouse

- Select text box tool
- Click and drag to create text box
- Type text
- Select text to change font style, color, size,
etc by clicking dragging over text until there
is a box highlighting the text

- Select Word Art tool
- Chose style, click OK
- Type text
- To enlarge click drag corner selection boxes
- To change the angle click drag the yellow dot
- Select text box tool
- Click and drag to create text box
- Type text
- Select text to change font style, color, size,
etc by click dragging over text until there is a
box highlighting the text

Fill color
- Click Rectangle or Oval tool
- Click and drag diagonally to create a rectangle
or oval and click - Click on rectangle or oval to select
- Go to Fill Color tool and click on arrow to the
right - Choose the color

- Click Line or Arrow tool
- Click and drag to create a line or arrow
- Click on line or arrow to select
- Go to Line Color tool and click on arrow to the
right - Choose the color

- Click Text tool
- Click and drag to create a text box, type your
name - Click and drag over text to highlight
- Go to Font Color tool and click on arrow to the
right - Choose the color

Effects
Transitions
- Transitions (whole slide)
- Adds or changes the way the slide comes into the
presentation - Effects (parts of the slide)
- Adds or changes the way the items on the slide
come on to the slide
28Adding Transitions to Slides
- Go to Slide Sorter View
- Click on the slide to have transition added to
- Go to top left corner where it says no
transition - Click on the arrow to the right
- Choose a transition
- In slide sorter there will be a small image of a
slide with an arrow under the slide the
transition was added
29Adding Effects to Slides
- Go to Slide Sorter View
- Click on the slide to have the effect added to
- Go to top left corner where it says no effect
- Click on the arrow to the right
- Choose an effect
- There will be a small image with four lines under
the slide with the effect on it
30Play the Slide Show!
31Slide Show Features
- Go to Slide Sorter View
- Select first slide
- Go to Slide Show
- Click to bring in your bulleted items or images
- Click to go to the next slide
- There will be a small image in the left hand
corner, this is another way to navigate through
the presentation, use pointer options and end
show
32Slide Show Features Pointer Options
- These options can only be used one at a time
- Automatic
- is changing slides with a click of the mouse
- Hidden
- is hiding the Slide Show Features (right click on
mouse will bring the menu back - Arrow
- is just a pointer
- Pen
- You can change the pen color before you use
- Pen writes on the slide and will disappear next
time you present
