7Update on Major Projects
- Developed Incident Command (IC) communications
protocols and Tactical Interoperability
Communications Plans (TICP) - 6 regional plans and 1 statewide
- Exercising the TICPs is critical
- Completed network security certification and
accreditation - Complex and first of its kind
- ALMR Cooperative Agreement, dated 21 Nov 07, has
been released for final signatures goal 5 Dec
07
The most significant impediment to
interoperability is no longer the
technology--its processes, procedures and
training. Recommend senior leaders ask their
communications chief if their conventional LMR
radios have been programmed with the ALMR IC
protocol.
8Way Ahead
- Install 31 gateway systems by Jun 08 to enable
communications with disparate radio system
(air-to-ground, maritime, conventional land
mobile radios) - Total Cost of Ownership Study by Apr 08 for
shared infrastructure - Used as basis for future cost-share
determinations - ALMR operations and maintenance contract for
shared system - Funded thru May 08
- Expect full funding for Jun 08 May 09 with
first State OM contribution

10Questions?
After each major catastrophic event in recent
history, the most glaring indication of success
or failure by responding agencies has been their
ability to effectively communicate with each
other.
