There are 4 installation files in the folder, 3
of which are installations which are required to
run APIC (XM link is optional). Install them in
the following order
- ApicStdNorthAmericaInstall.exe
- NorthAmericaGeoDataInstall.exe
- WestTerrain.exe
- XM Link (optional install only if using a
WxWorx receiver)
8- Installation Walk-Through
Step 2 Run the Installation
Running ApicStdNorthAmericaInstall.exe should
bring you to the following installation screen
9On the PDA version only, make sure you install
the right version of software
10For a PDA, depending on how much space you have
available you may want to install APIC on an SD
card. APIC should run just fine off the SD card,
unless you are using a Weather Worx receiver, in
which case you should install the program on the
main memory of the device to avoid problems.

Step 3 Connecting your GPS to APIC
Now that APIC is installed, you need to configure
the GPS communication settings
12If you are using a Bluetooth GPS with APIC, you
will need to pair the GPS with you computer
first.
13On APICs main page open the Settings menu
14Open the Connections menu
15Select the COM Port your GPS uses
Next select the Reset button
The Baud Speed is typically 4800, but consult the
GPSs documentation to make sure
Then click Done
16The Satellite Information Screen will also
contain satellite connections status and
real-time GPS information
Note Be patient! It can sometimes take up to 5
minutes to make connections with GPS satellites
Satellite Connections will also be shown in the
PFD
17Upon successful connection with your GPS, your
current location will be projected on the moving
map
18Other navigation data received from the GPS
satellites is also found here
A Black bar means that APIC is receiving GPS data
from that satellite but is not using it
A Green bar means that APIC is receiving and
using GPS data from that satellite to determine
your location
Note You need at least 3 green bars to
calculate your location, and at least 4 green
bars to calculate your altitude
