Who was the Real Dracula
  • Vlad Tepes Dracula or Vlad the impaler was the
inspiration of Bram Stokers Dracula. Prince
Vlad was once the ruler of the country known now
as Romania until his death in 1476. During
Vlads rule he would impale his enemies as means
of torture. For his actions the title tepes
meaning impaler in Romanian, was given to Vlad.
Dracula, another title meaning son of the
dragon was given to him on

Dracula Continued
  • Behalf of his father. Vlads father, also named
Vlad, was involved with a group known as Order
of the Dragon an order formed by the Holy Roman
Emperor Sigismund for the purpose of defeating
the Turks. ((Jeanne Kalogridis). Vlads father
went by the name of Dracul meaning dragonor
devil. Hence the diminutive -a on his sons
name, Dracula. (Jeanne Kalogridis). As Vlad
Tepes continued his tortures, his name became
more interpreted as son of the devil.
