Conditions
  • Stagnant, dirty stream in the middle of the camp
    used as a sewer, and for drinking and bathing
    water
  • No permanent housing was provided, nor were
    prisoners allowed to build their own shelter
  • Daily Food Allowance included 1 ¼ lb. stale
    grain, 1/3 lb. 1 lb. of beef or bacon, and
    occasionally a few tablespoons of beans or rice
  • No medical treatment available

Live prisoners from Andersonville when they were
released from the prison in 1865
