Introduction to GIS
  • GIS is a technology that enables the users to do
geographic spatial analysis to get the useful
    information.
  • GIS consists of computer hardware and software
for spatial data input, data management, data
analysis and output that have been digitized and
registered to a common coordinate system.

FARSITE Description
  • FARSITE is a stand-alone fire behavior simulation
model. It is used to simulate wild land fire
behavior under complex conditions of terrain,
    fuels, and weather.
  • FARSITE incorporates models for surface fire,
crown fire, spotting, fire acceleration, and fuel
moisture to produce maps of fire behavior in
    vector and raster formats.

Conclusion
  • GIS can manage and provide spatial data for the
fire behavior simulation in a more efficient way.
  • GIS-based fire behavior analysis surpasses manual
methods for the manipulation of complex data to
    analyze fire behavior.
