4Institutional Camps/clinics
- Owned and operated by a member institution or its
athletics department staff members. - PSAs participate.
- May occur on or off an institutions campus.
- NCAA Bylaw 13.12.1.1

5Purpose of institutional camps/clinics
- Special emphasis or instruction/practice.
- In a particular sport or sports.
- May include competition.
- Designed to improve skills and knowledge.
- Diversified experience.
- No emphasis on a particular sport.
- Does not focus on instruction, practice or
competition.
6Noninstitutional Camps/Clinics
- Not owned or operated by the institution or
employee of the institutions athletics
department. - May be held at any location, including
institutions campus.
7General Guidelines
8Attendance
- Must be open to any and all entrants (limited
only by number, age, grade level and/or gender).
- Not permissible to provide free or reduced
admission to high school, preparatory school,
two-year college athletics award winner or a PSA
being recruited by your institution. - May invite specific PSA provided the institution

9 Apparel and awards
- PSAs may receive awards if the cost of the award
is included in the admissions fees for the camp

10Recruiting at camps/clinics
- Coaches are prohibited from recruiting during the
time period of the camp or clinic. - Written or verbal offer of financial aid.
- Making recruiting presentations.
- Setting up official or unofficial visits.

- Basketball.
- Football.
- All other sports.
12Basketball Time Period
- Institutional camps and clinics can be conducted
during the following months - June,
- July,
- August, or
- Any calendar week (Sunday through Saturday) that

13Football Time Period
- Two 15-consecutive day periods in the months of
June and July - Or any calendar week (Sunday through Saturday)
that includes days of those months. - Example May 31, 2009 through June 3, 2009.

15Recent Interpretation
- Athletics department staff members, including
coaches, may make/receive telephone calls related
to camp/clinic logistical issues to or from the
following people - PSAs
- PSAs parents or legal guardians or
- PSAs coaches.
- No advertising or promotion.

- No solicitation.

meets conditions for institutional camps - Including, but not limited to
- Open to any and all entrants
- No free or reduced admission to athletics award
winners and - No recruiting presentations.

- Shall not employ (salaried or voluntary) a
speaker at any institutional basketball
camp/clinic who - Is involved in coaching PSAs.
- Is associated with a PSA as a result of the PSAs
