RESORT AND SKIING
Situated in the heart of the magnificent Austrian
Tyrol, the world famous ski resort Kitzbuhel
provides fantastic skiing in beautiful scenery
and unforgettable atmosphere. The Kitzbuhel
mountains are sheltered by the Wilder Kaiser
mountains and have many north facing slopes,
therefore enjoy good snow conditions and
excellent powder. Groups normally begin either
at Pass Thurn or Jochberg where there are good
nursery slopes. After a day or two in this area
beginners are ready to venture into other parts
of this extensive system as there are many blue
runs on the system. The ski safari which extends
from Kitzbuhel to Pass Thurn, allows even
intermediate skiers to cover more than 25 miles
of pisted runs throughout the area.

Parent consent form Easter Ski trip
2006 Claviere, Italy
SECTION 1 - SUPERVISION   I have been informed
by the Party Leader regarding my daughters
supervision while on the aforementioned trip and
I agree / consent to the following procedures
which are outlined by the LEA DfES.   For ratio
purposes the DfES advises ? 1 to 10 on foreign
trips.
Responsibility of Party Leader Miss Munro   ?
Allocate supervisory responsibility to each
teacher for named pupils both on and off
piste. ? Ensure that each member of staff knows
which pupils they are responsible for- both on
and off piste. ? Ensure that each pupil knows
which adult is responsible for them - both on and
off piste. ? Ensure that pupils are aware
of expected standards of behaviour- both on and
off piste.
17
Responsibility of your daughter while on the ski
trip will be to   ? Know who their supervisor is
at any given time and how to contact them. ? Have
been given clear, understandable and appropriate
instructions. ? Never be on their own. ? Alert
the supervisor if someone is missing or in
difficulties. ? Have a meeting place to return
to, or an instruction to remain where they are,
if seperated. ? Be thoroughly briefed on any
potential hazards. ? Understand and accept the
expected standards of behaviour. ? Be sensitive
to local codes and customs. ? Dress and behave
sensibly and appropriately when on the piste. ?
Not to take unnecessary risks.
18
During down time (or recreational time) ie during
the evening your daughter may be involved in
activities, which are run by company staff. As
Party Leader I will
  • ? Ensure that all Staff and pupils understand the
standards of behaviour that apply at all times,
    not just during activities.
  • ? Ensure that all supervisors know that their
supervisory role continues in the evening.
  • ? Use the time for reflection and briefings.
  • ? Apply the guidance contained in the DfES HASPEV
Booklet if allowing the pupils some time without
    close supervision.
  • ? Occupy the group with activities in the
evenings such as bowling, disco, games night,
    quiz night etc.

19
Each member of staff will have the following
information concerning their pupils who are under
their direct supervision   ? Have prior
knowledge of any special educational needs,
medical needs or disabilities. ? Carry a list of
all group member with emergency contact
numbers. ? Directly supervise pupils except
during remote supervision. ? Regularly check that
the entire group is present. ? Have a clear plan
of the activity undertaken outlined by the
group ski instructor. ? Have the means to contact
the group leader / other ski instructors if help
is needed through walkie talkies. ?
Anticipate a potential risk be recognizing a
hazard, where necessary, at the point of
hazard before the pupils do, and acting promptly
where necessary ie taking pupils off piste
and or not letting them ski. ? Continuously
monitor the appropriateness of the activity, the
physical and mental condition and abilities
of the group members and their suitability. ? Be
competent to exercise appropriate control of the
group and to ensure that pupils abide by the
agreed standards of behaviour. ? Clearly
understand emergency procedures and be able to
carry them out. ? Have appropriate access to
first Aid.
20
Head counts etc. ? Ensure that all
pupils are aware of rendezvous points.? Ensure
all pupils know what to do if they become
seperated from the group.? Each pupil will have
a laminated card with contact number, address and
if any medical details in Italian.
21
At night time I will ensure that
? Teachers have sleeping accommodation within
easy reach of pupils accommodation. ?Child
protection arrangements are in place. ? That
security arrangements will be in force to stop
unauthorised access. ? In the absence of 24 hour
reception I will ensure doors are secure against
intrusion and windows are closed
appropriately. ? Where pupils doors are locked,
teachers have immediate access to a master
key. ? All Staff and pupils know emergency
procedures / escape routes in the event of a
fire. ? Check the function of the fire doors.
22
Travel
  • I will ensure as Party Leader that

? There is adequate supervision at all times
when traveling. ? Pupils are supervised when
boarding and leaving. ? Standards of behaviour
are met and in particular drivers are not
distracted. ? Smoking and alcohol bans are
observed. ? Evacuation procedures are clearly
understood by everyone, luggage is securely
stored and emergency seats are kept clear. ?
Head counts are carried out when the group is
getting off or onto transport.
23
 Behavioral and Emergency policy
As a parent / guardian I consent that my
daughter will recognise and clearly understands
that a high standard of behaviour and respect to
local customs are detrimental to the success of
this trip. If your daughter does not conform to
the behavioural policy outlined by the Party
Leader I as a parent / guardian agree for my
daughter to miss a days skiing or in a severe
case I will fly out and bring my daughter home.
In the event of a medical emergency I
consent that the Party Leader can take my
daughter to a local hospital and if deemed
medically necessary agree to my daughter
receiving appropriate medical attention.
24
Behavioural Policy
  • Maintain behaviour and attendance
  • Common Sense
  • Punishment
  • Mobile phones
  • Ski-way Code
  • In loco parentis
  • Staff word is final

25
  • Ski Trip Contract
  • May we draw both skiers and parents attention to
the following rules, which must be agreed and
    understood by all party members
  • 1) No participant of the group under 18 years of
    age will consume alcoholic beverages.
  • 2) No party member will be allowed to smoke.
  • 3) Rooms will be treated with the utmost respect,
as should all transport and equipment damages
will be paid by the person responsible for them.

26
  • 4) Every pupil MUST
  • a) rise in the morning when called
  • b) attend all meals - eat something so they have
enough energy to participate AND remain seated
until everyone has eaten and they are dismissed
  • c) ski and participate in all activities unless
    medically advised against it.
  • d) retire to bed when instructed.
  • 5) Mobile phones may be taken HOWEVER they are
the pupils responsibility and they are not
insured. We advise limited use due to cost and
    social benefits (independence).

27
  • 6) If a parent / carer wishes a pupil to wear a
helmet, the pupil herself is responsible for this
    and not the staff involved.
  • 7) Any pupil not participating in the fundraising
activities will not reap the rewards.
  • 8) Behaviour at all times is expected to be
exemplary. The staff involved reserve the right
to give punishments (such as boot duty) or
withdraw lift passes from irresponsible party
members and those who disobey instructions given
for their safety and the safety of others. In a
severe case a parent / carer will be expected to
fly out and bring their daughter home.

28
  • 9) Please remember the staff are giving up their
holiday for you. We expect all members to ski and
enjoy themselves. We also expect members to
conduct their selves in a civilised fashion and
to be pleasant and courteous and respect the
locals and their customs. This way all the party
should have a great and rewarding holiday.
  • 10) Remember that the staff are in loco parentis
and whatever decision we make is final.

29
  • 11) As parent / carer I give permission for the
school to take and use photographs / videos of my
daughter only to be used for school resources.
  • 12) In the event of a medical emergency I consent
that the Party Leader can take my daughter to a
local hospital and if deemed medically necessary
agree to my daughter receiving appropriate
    medical attention.
  • We have read, understood and agree to the
conditions and rules under which the Ski Trip
