Honesty

• You already know that Abe shows this trait
  because his nickname was Honest Abe.
• One way you can tell this is because he was one
  of our greatest presidents, a reason for this
  could be because he was the one who put a stop to
  the slavery and brought the nation back into one.
• Even though he had a very hard time when he was
  growing up, he never gave up and went on to
  become the president.

Perseverance

• Lincoln shows perseverance in many different
  ways.
• One example could be of him wanting to become
  president, he always dreamt of being president
  and just kept on trying until he succeeded.
• Another example could be of how he ended slavery,
  he just kept on fighting until the slave states
  finally gave up and surrendered.

Responsibility

• You probably already know how responsible Lincoln
  is but here are just a couple of examples just to
  make sure.
• One example could be when he was asked to sail
  down the Mississippi River with someones son on
  a business trip to New Salem. It was a very long
  trip so the shop owner chose him because he knew
  how responsible Lincoln really was.
• Another example could be when he was in charge of
  all of the military was depending on him to make
  the right decisions and in the end he had made
  the right ones and ended slavery.

Compassion

• Lincoln shows compassion in many different ways.
• One thing that shows this is because even though
  he was president he put really hard work into
  individual peoples problems.

Respect

• Lincoln showed a lot of respect to the slaves and
  the slave owners at the same time. I know this
  because he specifically said that he did not take
  part in one side of the war but decided just to
  end all the fighting with mutual agreement.
• Later his plan was ruined and he sided with the
  people against slavery. He freed many slaves
  during the war and some of the slaves joined the
  war because he had freed them and they wanted to
  free the rest of the slaves.
