7Current Status
Contract Support LOGCOM will enlist contract
support in order to move the initiative forward
and bring program management support and emerging
technologies to the table. Funding. Funding is
in place for 12 months of program support.

- COA (s) will be tailored for each MEF
- The key factors that differentiate COAs are
storage location and program administration - All COAs are required to address the access of
equipment by the MEFs in the event of a non-MPS
contingency - Cost estimates will be developed for each COA

17Long Term Benefits
Increased equipment readiness for the
warfighter Warfighters relief from the current
maintenance burden Improves LOGCOMs ability to
manage ground weapon systems/SECREPs Weapon
Systems availability and maintainability is
improved over the life cycle resulting in lower
ownership cost
18Long Term Benefits
Improve the scheduling and forecasting of depot
level maintenance program (DLMP)
requirements Improve forecasting of parts
requirements to support depot maintenance
production Stabilize the master work
schedule Improve and formalize equipment
rotation over a broader spectrum of weapon
systems

T/E Initiative took a strategic pause during
Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom.
20Additional Requirements
In July 2003, the Deputy Commandant for IL
tasked LOGCOM to expand the T/E Policy Initiative
to include the reserves. Additionally, LOGCOM
was directed to establish and administer the
controlled humidity protection (CHP) program to
coincide with the T/E Policy Initiative.

25Unresolved Issues
Readiness Reporting Policy. Plans, Policy and
Operations (PPO) will assist in the develop of
readiness reporting policies and
procesures. Funding. The T/E initiative
currently represents an unfunded project. The
analysis effort conducted jointly with the
MARFORs and LOGCOM during course of action (COA)
development will provided data to assist in
financial decisions. Stock/Equipment Rotation
Plan. The key to achieving a return on
investment, though long term in nature, from the
T/E Policy Initiative is through efficiencies
realized by effective equipment rotation.
