3Why Take the GHSGT/GHSWT??
- All Students seeking a Diploma in Georgia must
pass the GHSGT in 4 content areas (Math, Science,
English and Social Studies) as well as the GHSWT
4Why Take the GHSGT/GHSWT??
- Since 2004, English/Language Arts and Mathematics
Graduation Tests have been used to measure
Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under the federal
guidelines of No Child Left Behind

- Students take the GHSGT for the first time in the
11th grade
7When do students take the GHSGT/GHSWT??
- The Georgia High School Writing Test is given in
the fall (September) to all 11th graders

- The Georgia High School Graduation test is given
in the four content areas - Math
- Science
- Social Studies
- English/Language Arts
- In the Spring of students junior year.

- Students have 5 administration opportunities
during 11th and 12th grade to pass the GHSGT and
GHSWT

13What Scores Do Students Need to Make on the
GHSGT/GHSWT?
- Students need to make a score of
- 500
- On each content area test and the GHSWT in order
to PASS

GHSGT/GHSWT?
- In order for the school to meet the Annual
Measurable Objective targets and meet AYP
(Adequate Yearly Progress) students must score
the following - English/Language Arts 511
- Mathematics 516

GHSWT before Graduation???

GHSGT/GHSWT?
- Student Who do not pass the GHSGT and/or GHSWT,
but have met all other requirements for a diploma
may be eligible for a Certificate of Performance
17What Happens if Students Do Not Pass the
GHSGT/GHSWT?
- Students may continue to take the GHSGT and GHSWT
after their senior year as many times as needed
by contacting the school prior to each test
administration

- All students who are taking the GHSGT this spring
have been given a study guide with facts to study
in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and
English/Language Arts.they need to begin
preparing now for the March Administration

- All students who are taking the GHSGT this spring
have been given practice tests with answers in
Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and
English/Language Arts.they need to begin working
through practice exercises

GHSGT/GHSWT?
- Every Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 330 to
500 review sessions on-line are available in the
media center

GHSGT/GHSWT?
- The media center has a section of review
materials available for all students to check out
throughout the year

- March 7th is the next GHSWT administration after
tomorrows (9/27/06) administration - March 19th-22nd is the next administration of the
four content areas of the GHSGT
