- answer 26 multiple choice questions
7Reading Comprehension Strategies
- Read all directions carefully.
- Underline key words or phrases.
- Use your reading strategies (i.e. predict,
clarify).
8Strategies for Answering Multiple Choice Questions
- Be aware of the question type (main idea, detail,
authors purpose). - Look back in the selection for details to help
you answer the questions. - Use process of elimination.

- Eliminate the obviously wrong answers.
- When deciding between two seemingly correct
answers, choose the best possible answer. - Use all of your available time.

two passages that you will read. - Before reading the passages do a quick walk
through the booklet. - Read the extended response (essay) prompt.

- This prompt will clue you in to the relationship
between the paired readings. - Read the pieces using all of your reading
strategies. - Answer the short/extended response using all of
your writing strategies.
