Western Siberia, in the geographical centre of
the country. The area of the Tomsk Oblast is 316,
900 square km. The population is over 1 million

The territory of the Tomsk Oblast Research and
Innovation Special Economic Zone lies within the
city boundaries its area is 197 ha.
The allotted territory includes the Tomsk
Scientific Centre of the SB of the Russian
Academy of Sciences In the South and East the
territory is surrounded by the city forests The
territory incorporates all the necessary material
and technical infrastructure.
The access to the site is provided through the
Tomsk motor roads. The airport is situated at a
distance of 18 km. The nearest railway station is
7 km far

The implementation of the project concerning the
formation of a special economic zone in the Tomsk
Oblast will provide the creation of new
highly-paid jobs in the innovation sectors of the
region economy
By the year 2020, the total number of people
employed in the production of competitive
high-end goods and services will have increased
2.5 times and have made up about 10 of the
people employed in the enterprises and
organizations of the region (over 34000 people).
Taking into account the productivity growth
forecast, the income of the employed in the
respective sectors will have increased almost 6
times at the 2004 level. Moreover, the increase
in the population income will result in the
growth of the consumer market capacity of the
Tomsk Oblast and the quality of life in general.
