• To seek, research, and foster viable bio-economy
  business opportunities to enhance and grow our
  Northwestern Ontario communities.

• To encourage and support NWO communities through
  the facilitation of economic opportunities in
  bio-economy and value-added industries.
• 2. To encourage and champion research and
  innovation as a major contributor to the regions
  growing bio-economy and value-added industries.
• 3. To formulate viable business models for
  consideration by interested entrepreneurs.

Future Projects

• To establish a Forest Community Liaison Office
  (FCLO) that would develop and maintain effective
  lines of communication with provincial and
  federal governments and university researchers,
  district MNR staff, research and development
  agencies, and marketing agencies thereby becoming
  a principal source of key information for
  potential investors, entrepreneurs, and existing
  forest companies. The FCLO will enhance the
  opportunity for NWO communities to become
  effective players in the forest industry and the
  emerging bio-economy

BY-LAWS

• 1. a. Municipalities, First Nations, business,
  academia, and households can hold a membership to
  the Northwestern Ontario Bio-economy Corporation.
  All members will pay an annual membership fee,
  which will be recorded and maintained by the
  Secretary and the Treasurer.
• b. All meeting members in attendance have an
  equal vote.
• One-person, one-vote.
• A municipality holds one membership. Any member
  of the municipality can attend a meeting and has
  one vote

Membership Costs

• 2. Costs of holding a membership to NOBEC
• Municipal/First Nations - 500
• Large Corporations (50 employees) - 250
• Colleges/Universities - 250
• Small Business (1-50 employees) - 50
• Household - 25

Executive and Sub-Committee Members

• 3
• a. The Executive of NOBEC shall be elected
  through majority vote at the AGM.
• b. Sub-committees will consist of volunteers

Meetings

• 4 a. NOBEC meetings will be held the first
  Thursday of the month at 130pm. The meeting
  venue will rotate.
• b. Non-scheduled meetings can only be called by
  the Chairperson members will be notified through
  telephone and email.

Decision-Making

• 5 a. A quorum will consist of 3 members, one of
  which must be an executive member.
• b. All decisions shall be made by consensus,
  except for the election of the Executive, which
  is through majority vote.

Record-Keeping

• 6 a. Administrative records will be kept with the
  Secretary.
• b. Financial records will be kept with the
  Treasurer.

Changing By-Laws

• 7. Amendments can be made at any time during the
  year, but must be brought forward at one meeting
  and voted on at the next meeting.
