Research on Facebook
  • Research for dissertation
  • What I looked at
  • Carried out survey of Museum of London Facebook
    members
  • 1245 members, 45 responses

10
What I found for Facebook
  • Survey responses from 45 members - on average, 4
out of 5 comments were positive
  • It seems that people dealing with it, are just
bored and do it because they have to do it.
  • Because I live in the north and it is easy to
keep up to date with goings on Facebook because I
    am always on here!
  • I think their website is the best resource but
Im glad to see them on Facebook as well.
  • Notification of events at MOL is brilliant
  • Its easier to engage with as opposed to
    visiting a website

11
What I found for Facebook
  • 2 groups and fan page

12
What I found for Facebook
  • Reading Facebook emails and update alerts

Quote I selected Have not visited since
joining groups or becoming a fan because I dont
proactively visit pages. I only go in response to
emails or other notifications from the page
owner.
13
What I found for Facebook
86 of all members visited MOL website as a
direct result of MOLs presence on Facebook
In addition, most Facebook members wanted to
know what events were taking place at MOL and get
updates of changes 18 attended a late event
as a result
14
Conclusion of findings
  • 100 of members want MOL to continue on Facebook
most would recommend MOL and MOL on Facebook to
    other people
  • Very few visitors are engaging with MOL through
    Facebook
  • More effort needs to be put into improving the
communication on Facebook to make it effective
  • MOL is not utilising Facebook enough at present
and only use it for information purpose only
  • It appears people want to receive information and
be prompted and guided to available content in
    the most convenient way.

15
