2Vision Statement Empowerment of the marginalised
through capacity building and sustainable rural
and urban development programmes
3Established in 1975, today through a range of
family welfare programmes encompassing childcare,
child development, youth empowerment, womens
empowerment, medical and healthcare, HIV/AIDS,
and rural development, DGS helps beneficiaries in
Pune and several nearby villages.
DGS reaches out tomore than 68,500 beneficiaries
a year

Over 700 children benefit from this programme
5Crèches Balwadis
All children attending the crèches and balwadis
receive Pre-school education Regular
medical check-ups Free medical treatment and
immunisation Periodic parents meetings
Recreational programmes Daily nutrition (one
meal a day)
6Special Nutrition Centre
- Daily nutrition in the form of one free meal for
children suffering from malnutrition or chronic
ill health (e.g. tuberculosis, pneumonia) - These children are not required to be enrolled in
the crèche or balwadi classes to benefit. - If a child is too sick to come to the centre,
meals are sent to their home.

Since mid-2007, Deep Griha Society has been
partnering with Project Concern International
(PCI) as the implementing agency in Pune for
PATHs Sure Start project. Sure Start is an
initiative to support community action for
improving maternal and newborn health (MNH) in
India.

18For people living with an affected by HIV and
AIDS, the stigma and discrimination surrounding
HIV can be far more damaging than the effects of
the virus itself.
Deep Griha Society aims to tackle the SILENCE
