Introduction
Innovations will be in the focus of the future EC
policy By the end of the Commission's next
mandate, I want Europe to have become not just a
"knowledge society", but an "innovation society."
I plan to make this one of my top personal
priorities. Indeed, I want it to be an important

The Living Lab Concept

• Living Labs aim to contribute to a new Innovation
  System where users and citizens become active
  actors and not only passive receivers.
• A Living Lab is about experimentation and
  co-creation with real users in real life
  environments, where users together with
  researchers, firms and public institutions look
  together for new solutions, new products, new
  services or new business models.
• Living Labs are about societal involvement, about
  promoting open innovation in a societal basis,
  involving academia, SMEs, public institutions and
  large companies in an Open Innovation process
  that because happens in real environments has an
  immediate impact.

Living Labs 4th Wave -Invitation to apply

• Organisations committed to engage and empower
  users to take part in sustainable innovation
  processes are, as of 7th October 2009, invited to
  apply for membership in the European Network of
  Living Labs - ENoLL.
• To do so, fill out this form (.doc, 95K) and send
  it to wave4_at_enoll.org
• Application deadline is that the ENoLL office
  shall have received the application via email no
  later than 21 December 2009 at 2400 hours CET.
• Approved new members will enter the network in
  the spring 2010 at a 4th wave launch ceremony in
  Spain, by the Spanish Presidency (date/venue to
  be announced).
• A summary of ENoLL objectives, means of operation
  and primary values is given in this document
  (.pdf, 305.1K - Updated Oct. 22, 2009!). Note in
  particular that there is no financial
  provisioning for the members.
