- Responsible for the UK civil public sector
nuclear legacy - Based in West Cumbria
- Four regional offices covering 20 sites across
the UK - Over 2Bn per annum budgeted spend
- In excess of 1Bn income per year
- Total programme currently 63Bn over circa
120 years - Around 20,000 people
3Scope
- 20 diverse sites located around the UK. Many
facilities date back to 1940s but some modern
commercial plants - Not just decommissioning clean-up. Activities
include RD, Construction, Reprocessing, Waste
Management Storage, Fuel Manufacture,
Electricity Generation and Transport.

cost effectively in ways that protect the
environment. - Promote competition in the decommissioning and
clean up market. - Carrying out Research Development related to
decommissioning. - Ensure maintenance development of
decommissioning skills. - Promote good practice and secure value for money.
- Support the social and economic life of
communities around sites.
