Title: Joint Topology Control and Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

1
Joint Topology Control and Routing in Mobile Ad
Hoc Networks
Their use is critical for communications on a
daily basis, which depend on our ability to make
such networks work.
Different types of wireless devices (referred as
nodes) comprise an Ad Hoc network.

A limiting factor in their operation is usually
the battery life of the network node equipment.
This research examines how to bring together ways
of controlling the flow of data over such
networks simultaneously with minimising the
intra-network interference and maximising the
network battery-dependent lifetime.

The network simulator being used is OPNET. Its
ability to represent a network at every stage
proved to be very accurate and helpful to realise
how everything works in real life.

The current model consists of two mobile nodes
and the object is to exchange information between
them, collect a number of statistics, view the
results and draw certain conclusions.
