Internet

• A worldwide collection of networks that links

• Is the part of the internet that supports

• Documents or pages of information that are linked

• A collection of Web Pages that are created and
  maintained by a company, a university or college,
  a government agency or even an individual to
  distribute information

• A computer where web pages are stored and then
  sent out when requested, server software must be
  installed and the computer must be hooked up to
  the internet

• Term used to describe the process of copying
  files to a web server that allows the pages to be
  viewed on the Internet

• Is used to connect a web page to another web page
  on the same, or a different web server located
  anywhere in the world

• Hypertext markup language is a set of special

  documents,as well as how the page is displayed

  combination of HTML tags, Cascading style sheets
  (CSS), and scripting language like Javascript

  language that uses tags to describe the structure
  and content of a document not the format
• Extensible Hypertext Markup language (XHTML) is
  a reformulation of the HTML language so that it
  conforms to XML rules

Tools needed for creating HTML documents

• Text Editor many to choose from we will use
  Notepad, used to enter, save, change or print
  text such as HTML
• Use can also use a HTML editor such as Macromedia
  Home site or BBEdit, more bells and whistles
• WYSIWYG - stands for what you see is what you
  get. Microsoft FrontPage, Macromedia Dreamweaver
  or Sausage Software Hotdog are examples. They are
  software with graphical user interface so you can
  preview the file as you work
