  • Establish physical BT scatternet.
  • Implement a routing algorithm.

Overview
  • Bluetooth
  • BT is a short range radio-technology using a
    frequency hopping scheme in the ISM band.
  • Originally developed as a cable replacement
    technology ,enabling people and machines to
    interact at short range. And hence can be used to
    form a close range wireless network (Personal
    Area Network).

  • PAN(Personal Area Network)
  • We will divide it into a Piconet and a Scatternet
  • Piconet
  • Is a collection of up to seven slave devices
    operating together with one common master.
  • All devices on the piconet follow the
    frequency hopping sequence and timing of the
    master.

Overview- Piconets (cont.)
  • There is no direct transmission between slaves in
    a piconet ,only from master to slave and
    viceversa.

Overview- Scatternets
  • Is an extension of the piconet, realized by
    linking several piconets together.
  • Some devices are members of more than one piconet
    acting as slaves in more than one piconet,but can
    act as a master only in one piconet.

  • Two Piconets joined together to form a
    scatternet. With a shared slave acting as relay
    between the piconets.

  • Interface with an Ericsson BT unit using the
    BlueZ stack in a Linux environment.
  • Create communication between two Ericsson BT
    units in order to understand better the BlueZ and
    BT operation.

  • Create communication between two Digianswer BT
    units and ,again,understand their operation.
  • Create communication between a Digianswer BT unit
    and an Ericsson BT unit.

  • Establish a static piconet with the Digianswer
    units as masters.
  • Establish a scatternet and thus choosing and
    implementing a routing algorithm.
