• June 6-27, 2008
• 33 High School Junior Seniors attended
• Represented 13 area high schools
• Students received 4 college credit hours
• Tuition paid by a Title V grant
• AM session 9 to noon
• PM session 1 to 4
• 16 IT faculty staff participated

• 24 Hispanic males 15 Hispanic females

eXtreme Techno Camp

• Students learned about IT career paths, salaries
  and vocabulary related to topics
• Made cables tested them
• Created a Peer to Peer Network
• Placed calls using Skype to question each other
  and also made a conference call
• Set up a secure wireless computer to an access
  point

• Competed in teams playing Jeopardy (questions
  related to convergence technology concepts)
• Created blogs with daily comments
• Designed web pages with links to deliverables
  from all content presented
• Used Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver
• Created .wav and mp3 files

• Utilized Open Source software
• Explored database management concepts
• Programmed using an object oriented development
  tool
• Developed 2D video game
• Used cameras to create a video that was
  compressed with a link to play in the final
  presentation
• Explored and used many Google Tools

• Grades were given for each daily activity
• Presentations were made on the final day and
  graded according to

• delivery
• A sample student notebook is available to review

• Student satisfaction was measured four times
  during the camp using Zoomerang surveys
• Highlights of the overall evaluation were
• 89 considered the camp to be very valuable
• 75 would like to attend another camp
• 89 would recommend the camp to a friend
• 93 felt the camp had given them a better
  understanding of emerging technologies
