Mission

• The mission of the Health Careers Academy is to
  prepare urban youth for success in college and
  careers in the health sciences, and to ensure a
  future health care workforce that reflects the
  racial and cultural demographics of the city.
  The school links a traditional academic program
  with practice-oriented internships in
  community-based partner sites.

Goals

• Reorganize syllabus to focus first on subject
  areas more heavily weighted in assessment exams
• Organize field trips for the fall
• Visit my research lab
• Apply for BioTeach funding
• Reintroduce AP Biology into the curriculum

My Roles

• As a fellow I plan/hope to
• Provide additional personal attention to the
  students during class time
• Create lesson plans for the Ecology and Evolution
  curriculum
• Implement an afterschool program to give students
  additional time to work on and get help with
  science fair projects, or to learn about current
  biology research
• Give students advice on college
