  • to function as a network for European
    co-operation on e- and d-cinema issues and
    activities
  • to identify key issues, gather information and
    create models to encourage private investments
    and public support schemes for e- and d-cinema
  • to liase with other relevant bodies to assist in
    the establishment of appropriate world-wide
    standards for e- and d-cinema
  • to co-ordinate and establish European user
    requirements for standards for all parts of the
    e- and d-cinema chains
  • to intitiate and co-ordinate RD projects

  • to stimulate European production of high-quality

  • closely follow the international development of
    e-cinema
  • establish co-operation with international
    counter-parts (with emphasis on Europe)
  • assist in the launching process of a national
    field-test with e-cinema
  • function as an objective, public knowledge-bank
    on e-cinema issues
  • investigate alternative uses of e-cinemas
    especially from a regional and suburban
    perspective (see under Nordic E-cinema Award
    2001)
  • integrate the e-cinema concept in the on-going
    and rapid buildup of national broadband networks
    in Sweden
  • arrange conferences - Cinema without celluloid
    October 3rd 2000, Film production without
    celluloid April 1st 2001 and December 5th 2001
  • publish work reports The technology, economy and
    market potentials of e-cinema (September 2000),
    E-cinema - possible juridical, industrial and
    cultural consequences (March 2001) and "E-cinema
    Content" (February 2002) in co-operation with
    (EDCF).
