- There are 5 components of Reading
- Phonemic Awareness
- Phonics
- Vocabulary
- Fluency
- Comprehension
8Reading
- Students are assessed on
- Phonemic Awareness, Phonics and Fluency 3
times a year. - This State Assessment is called DIBELS.
9Math
- Math has evolved from merely shapes and numbers
1 to 10.
10Math topics include
- Algebraic thinking along with addition and
subtraction - Geometry
- Symmetry
- Graphing
- Counting to 100 by 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s
11Science
- Science has now become an additional focus due
to FCAT. - Subsequently, the benchmarks now include such
topics - Force and motion
- Changes in matter
12Success means Promotion!
1370 completion means Promotion.
14Less than 70 means Retention.

Kindergarten for another year.

- Attending conferences
- Addressing behavior concerns
- Assisting child at home
- Attending any additional meetings set up by Bear
Lake Staff.
20Attending Conferences
- It is mandatory for teachers to conference with
every parent within the first 90 days of school.
21Addressing Behavior
- Behavior affects academics and keeps students
safe. - Consequently Kindergarteners must exhibit the
following behaviors at all times.

and follow the rules.

- Reinforce good behaviors.
- Review all work.
- Complete homework
- Read with your child
- Read at least 15 minutes a day and discuss
Characters, Setting, Problem and Solution.

- It is important parents attend any meetings set
up by teachers and/or Bear Lake Staff. - Any cancellations will only prolong the process
of meeting students needs.
