Arrival at School

• Students can arrive after 755 am.
• School begins at 820 am.

Literacy Block Literacy Block is a large amount
of time in the morning focused on reading and
writing. This is when we focus on our Treasures
Curriculum.

Snack

• One of our favorite times of day! Snack gives us
  a chance to catch up with our friends, refuel
  with healthy foods, and take a quick break from
  all our hard work!

Math

• Our math program, Investigations, gives many
  hands-on learning opportunities to make math fun!

Open Circle

• This is our social skills curriculum. We gather
  as a group twice a week in an open circle to
  discuss many issues.

Choice Time This is a time for us to have
creative play and practice our Open Circle skills.

Social Studies and Science

• Our social studies and science curriculum is
  taught through poems, literature, creative
  activities, and hands-on experiments.

• 15 minutes can include a lot when you are 5 years
  old!

Big Buddies

• Every other Friday we will have big buddies with
  Mr. McCarthys 5th grade class.
• We read and create fun projects with our 5th
  grade buddies.

School Meeting

• On the Fridays we do not have buddies we go to
  school meeting.
• We meet as a whole school and parents are always
  welcome!

Special Events

• Everything from Red Sox and Pajama Days to The
  Bubble Guy help to make school fun and full of
  Great Oak spirit!
