The Visual outcomes with two different multifocal
IOLs

Purpose

• To evaluate the results of visual outcomes with
  implantation of NXG1 (ReZoom AMO) and SA60D3
  (ReSTOR Alcon) intraocular lenses (IOLs).

Methods

• Fifty one eyes (33 patients) were undergone the
  cataract surgery with implantation of the ReZoom
  (16 eyes) or ReSTOR (35 eyes).
• All eyes were evaluated for uncorrected distance
  acuity (UCVA), best corrected visual acuity
  (BCVA), uncorrected near visual acuity (UCNVA),
  best distance corrected near visual acuity
  (BDCNVA), defocusing curves and contrast
  sensitivity 3 months postoperatively.

Result

• For the ReZoom group at 1 week postoperative UCVA
  was better than 1.0,UCNVA was better than 0.6.
• On the ReSTOR group ,UCVA was better than
• 0.8,UCNVA was better than 0.7.
• There were no statistically significant
  differences between two groups in UCVA and in
  UCNVA.

Result

• Defocus curves at 3 months postoperative were two
  peaks in the 2 IOL models.
• Statistically significant differences in defocus
  curves were found in -4.0D between the 2 IOL
  models.

Result

• The ReZoom group were better than the ReSTOR
  group in the contrast sensitivity at 3 months
  postoperative .

Conclusion

• Both ReZoom and ReSTOR provided good visual
  performances at distance and near.
• Multifocal IOLs provide a greater depth of focus
  and higher patient satisfaction.
