  • Start early
  • Collect prizes, awards
  • Publish first author papers
  • Publish in good journals
  • Attend conferences
  • Apply for travel funds

  • Dont be shy but pro-active
  • Present your work at meetings
  • Oral presentations are important
  • But they have to be transform into publication
  • Interact, ask questions
  • Be first author on papers

  • This is where your research career takes off,
    make strategic choices
  • Start to think about your postdoc early
  • Leave the institution where you did your PhD/EdD
  • Find other opportunities
  • Get a postdoctoral fellowship, it will give you
    freedom and independence and will set you on a
    path
