Twilight Series
I woke up (on that June 2nd) from a very vivid
dream.
  • In my dream, two people were having an intense
conversation in a meadow in the woods. One of
these people was just your average girl. The
    other person was fantastically beautiful,
sparkly, and a vampire. They were discussing the
difficulties inherent in the facts that A) they
were falling in love with each other while B) the
vampire was particularly attracted to the scent
of her blood, and was having a difficult time
restraining himself from killing her immediately.
For what is essentially a transcript of my dream,
please see Chapter 13 ("Confessions") of the book.

Vampire Diaries
How it all began . . .
  • During the time of the Italian Renaissance,
brothers, Damon and Stefan Salvatore fell in love
with a beautiful young vampire named Katherine.
Though Katherine's heart was big enough for both
brothers, each of them vied to make her his own.
The battle for Katherine's affection led to her
eventually death, and left the two boys immortal,
    heartbroken, and forever quarreling.
  • Centuries later, Damon and Stefan are destined to
repeat the betrayal that led to their vampirism.
They descend on the small town of Fell's Church,
Virginia, where their paths cross with Elena
Gilbert, a beautiful and popular high school
student who bears a striking resemblance to
    Katherine. . . .

The Dresden Files
  • Harry Dresden is the best at what he does. Well,
technically, he's the only at what he does. So
when the Chicago P.D. has a case that transcends
mortal creativity or capability, they come to him
for answers. For the "everyday" world is actually
full of strange and magical things -- and most of
them don't play well with humans. That's where
Harry comes in. Takes a wizard to catch a --
    well, whatever.

Magic. It can get a guy killed.

On the day Claire became a member of the Glass
someone stole her laundry.
  • Claire's hand, reaching into the crappy, beat-up
washing machine, found nothing but the wet slick
sides of the drum, and -- like a bad joke -- the
worst pair of underwear she owned, plus one sock.
She was in a hurry, of course -- there were only
a couple of machines on this top floor of Howard
Hall, the least-valued and most run-down rooms in
the least-valued, most run-down dorm. Two washing
machines, two dryers, and you were lucky if one
of them was working on any given day and didn't
eat your quarters. Forget about the dollar bill
slot. She'd never seen it work, not in the last
six weeks since she'd arrived at school.

City of Glass
  • When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the
Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly
expects to witness a murder - much less a murder
committed by three teenagers covered with strange
tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the
body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call
the police when the murderers are invisible to
everyone else and when there is nothing - not
even a smear of blood - to show that a boy has
    died.

Or was he a boy?

Nina Harrison became a vampire in 1973
  • when she was fifteen, and she hasn't aged a day
since then. But she hasn't had any fun, either
she still lives with her mum, and the highlight
of her sickly, couchbound life is probably her
Tuesday-night group meeting, which she spends
with a miserable bunch of fellow sufferers, being
    lectured at.

Vampire Academy
I felt her fear before I heard her screams.
  • It's springtime at St. Vladimir's Academy, and
Rose Hathaway is this close to graduation. Since
making her first Strigoi kills, Rose hasn't been
feeling quite right. She's having dark thoughts,
behaving erratically, and worst of all...might be
    seeing ghosts.

  • and when a new family moves into the old town
mansion, she is convinced that the son,
    Alexander, is a vampire.

Cirque de Freak
  • The freak show was all I could think about that
night. I tried forgetting it, but couldn't, not
even when I was watching my favorite TV shows. It
    sounded so weird a snake-boy, a wolf-man, a
    performing spider. I

I was especially excited by the spider....

Vampirates
  • Vampirates begins in the year 2505. Sea-levels
have risen. The seas teem with pirate ships and
    other, more mysterious, vessels . . .
