Cl2 Injection into Stack Gas
Oil refineries inject Cl2 (chlorine gas) directly
into stacks to reduce sulfur emissions (H2S for
example). The sulfur monochloride compound which
forms in the stack is a solid and can drop out of
the air flow in the stack and coat the inside of
the stack itself, or drop down to the bottom of
the stack where it can be collected. TS400s can
be used to monitor potential Cl2 leakage around
the bulk storage tanks.
