Assessment Goals
  • To measure and evaluate student growth and
    achievement in order to improve instructional
    programs.
  • To assist teachers in making data informed
    decisions about each students educational
    program.
  • To compare overall student ability and
    achievement levels with students in Illinois and
    across the nation.

Illinois Snapshot of Early Literacy (ISEL)
  • Assesses early literacy development.
  • Administered to students in K and 1.
  • Assesses alphabet recognition, story listening,
    phonemic awareness, one to one matching, word
    naming, letter sounds, spelling, word recognition
    and reading.
  • Guides decision-making about literacy
    instruction.

Curriculum Based Measures (CBMs)
  • One to three minute assessments in reading and
    math.
  • Administered to students in K-8.

How do we use CBM data?
  • Quick screening to identify students who are
    academically at risk.
  • Monitor progress for students receiving academic
    interventions.

Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT)
  • Assesses thinking skills
  • Tests verbal comprehension and reasoning
  • Tests nonverbal figural and quantitative
    reasoning
  • Compares students to others locally and
    nationally

  • Students in grades one through eight were tested.
  • September, 2009 was the first time OLSATs were
    administered in District 65.

  • Fourth and seventh graders are also tested in
    science.

    take the ISAT writing test.

    equal interval RIT scale
