  • Drinking Water Quality identified by NRWMC as
    THE MAJOR ISSUE

  • 1993 1996 Over 40 GWS failure
  • Separate reports for each year since then with
    similar failure rates
  • Media Interest spotlight on GWS sector
  • Public Perception of GWS is poor

  • Fixed element (60 approx) shared by all houses
    in the bundle
  • Volumetric rates are scheme specific
  • Depends on Quality of raw water
  • Depends on Pumping Distance etc
  • No cross subsidisation between schemes

  • Validation Office set up by NFGWS
  • Based in Monaghan
  • Officer appointed Jean Gibson
  • All invoices from operator will be sent to V.O.
  • V.O. will have access to treatment plant data
  • V.O. will certify for payment

  • V.O. will arrange direct debit transfers
