• Problem mapping database contents across
  applications for inter-operability, with focus on
  geographical data sources, as a step towards
  creating national spatial data infra-structure
• Solved by defining an ontology based framework,
  where the data sources are specified using
  ontologies as well as storage metadata
• The framework consists of
• Establishing semi-automatic ontology mappings
  based on lexical and structural similarities
• Generating filters/wrappers to extract data from
  sources based on inter-source mappings
• Extracting and merging data from multiple sources
  based on the mappings
