  • Have an understanding of the basic plot of
    Macbeth (names, locations, where it took place,
    etc.)
  • Make sure youre aware of the plot that weve
    covered in class and can answer questions about
    the basic plot movements.

Line Recognition
  • Make sure you look up the following lines and
    know who said the lines and why the lines are
    IMPORTANT to the play. DONT SUMMARIZE LINES!
    Weve discussed each line specifically in class

    heard by the other actors on stage. Also used as
    the thoughts of a character on stage in place of
    voice over narration.
  • Paradoxwhen 2 statements seem to contradict one
    another, but they actually make sense.

  • Anachronismwhen something is historically
    inaccurate for the time period in which it is
    referenced.
  • Allusiona reference to a person, place or thing
    within a text that creates a deeper meaning/image
    for the reader.
  • Soliloquya dramatic speech made on stage alone
    by an actor that portrays their true
    thoughts/feelings.

  • There is a short answer section of the test. Make
    sure answers are complete for the questions.
    Heres a couple specific areas to look at.
  • Whats the purpose of Shakespeare having the
    witches story in scene 3 about cursing the
    sailor? Explain.
  • How does the last line of Act 1 False face must
    hide what the false heart doth know compare to
    the line Fair is foul, and foul is fair from S.
    1? Explain your answer. GO FOR DEEPER LEVEL
    THINKING.
