2What do LSPs do?
LSPs co-ordinate all of the organisations
involved in the partnership to improve the
delivery of service and raise the local quality
of life

5What has the LSP done?
- Improved decision making process by producing the
Neighbourhood Renewal Index of Deprivation to use
as evidence - Shared leadership across the city
- eg Safe and Strong chaired by police, Wise
chaired by Learning and Skills Council - Out of 43 projects started with NRF money
targeted on 3 priority neighbourhoods, only 6
have not been continued with mainstream money
6What is a Local Area Agreement?
- Delivery plan for the Sustainable Community
Strategy priorities - 3 year period
- Specific outcomes / targets
- Agreed by central government
- Theme groups responsible for delivery
7New Generation LAA
- Economic Development Block to become Economic
Development and Environment Theme - LAAs will be mainstream for LAs
- No longer specific funding streams linked to
specific targets - Area-based LAA grant will be unringfenced
- 18 mandatory education/early years targets with
up to 35 indicators to be agreed with central
government alongside any local targets
8Third Sector Strategy
- In order to achieve the LSP vision -communities
need to be engaged and involved in decision
making - Strategy will set out how LSP is planning to
improve its engagement with third sector enable
it to develop as an effective local partner,
specifically by - - recognising role of third sector in our work
- - reducing inconsistency in how we work with
third sector - - creating a framework for strong partnerships
- - ensuring fairness in service delivery
