Arizona Climograph Puzzler
Climographs are a simple, yet powerful, way to
visualize the key components of climate for a
particular location. Seasonal changes in
temperature and precipitation are easily depicted
using the climograph combination of a bar
(precipitation) and line (temperature) graph.
Long-term (gt30 yrs.) monthly averages of
precipitation and temperature are typically used
in the construction of a climograph. Data used in
this exercise represent averages from the period
of 1961-1990. Match the Arizona cities to their
respective climographs. Look at the range and
seasonality of temperatures and precipitation to
determine which city each climograph represents.
