1
London Overground Infrastructure Improvement
Programme Brondesbury Station Fact Sheet
  • Background
  • The work at Brondesbury Station is part of the
326m project sponsored by Transport for London
(TfL), Network Rail, the Olympic Delivery
Authority and the Department for Transport to
upgrade the London Overground network and improve
    its services.
  • What are we going to do?
  • TfL have plans to run longer trains on the
Richmond to Stratford route. These will be four
carriages long (the current trains have only
    three).
  • In order to achieve this, both platforms at the
Richmond (west) end of the station will be
    extended by 20 metres.
  • This work will involve
  • Clearing vegetation
  • Moving railway cables
  • Altering overhead cable positions
  • Mini piling
  • Building concrete foundations
  • Erecting cross walls and placing concrete planks
    for the platform
  • Installing new signals and associated equipment
    cabinets.
  • Transport for London will also be undertaking
refurbishment work to improve the station.
  • How will we gain access?
  • Most materials will be delivered by rail on
    Sundays.
  • Excavators will be of a Road Rail type and will
be brought on / off the tracks clear of the
station area via the railway access off Cavendish
Road or by West Hampstead Station.

  • When will we do the work?
  • The Network Rail works will start at the end of
December and continue until May 2010.
  • From Monday to Friday we will work between the
hours of 8am and 6pm and Saturdays from 8am until
    1pm.
  • The railway will be closed for 24 hours every
Sunday during this period so this will be our
busiest day. We will have to carry out any work
immediately adjacent to the tracks and make
    deliveries on Sunday.
