Hints for building positive relationships with
teachers
  • Contact the teacher early, and be positive, Is
    there anything I can do to help my child be
    successful in your class.
  • Try to be objective in discussing your child with
    the teacher. If a conflict arises, listen to
    what each party has to say before reaching a
    conclusion.
  • Dont solve your childs problems. Encourage your
    child to solve conflicts/problems with the
    teacher.
  • Be proactive and not reactive. Ask, listen and
    respond with information not emotions.

6 Reasons Not to give advice to your student
  • Giving advice robs your student of the
    opportunity to think of possible solutions
  • It interferes with the students ability to
    develop confidence and competence in problem
    solving
  • It prevents the student from taking
    responsibility
  • It conveys a lack of trust in the students
    ability to problem solve
  • Your advice could be wrong and could create
    additional problems for your student
  • Giving advice allows your student to blame you if
    your advice doesnt work out.

Cell Phones
  • Cell Phones are a privilege, that may be revoked
    if students violate rules established to protect
    the learning environment.
  • Pranks/Throwing Objects
  • Above will result in an automatic 5 day
    suspension/possible loss of school
    privileges/police report/possible Expulsion

Attendance
  • Three Tardies One Cut
  • Three Cuts Drop from class with an F grade
  • Parents must clear all absences within 48 hours
  • Failure to Clear an Absence will result in a
    CUT
  • Consequences for a CUT Work Detail/Saturday
    School/Drop Contract
  • Habitual Cutting or Absences will result in
    alternative school placement.

Dress Code.
  • No Sagging pants. No visible boxer, brief, thong
    or gym shorts above pants. Students will no
    longer be asked to pull up their pants, but will
    immediately be given a pair of gym shorts and
    Admin. Will keep pants until end of the day.
  • No tube tops. No strapless tops/dresses. No
    single strap tops/dresses. This includes no
    longer being able to wear a shrug/jacket over a
    tube top.
  • No visible bra straps.
  • No halter tops that expose the lower back
  • No see through tops or sheer see through skirts.
    If underwear is visible, they will be given gym
    shorts and Admin. Will keep skirt till end of the
    day.

  • Teachers explain policy to studentverbal, put
    in course syllabus (i.e. 2 tardiness am
    detention)
  • Explain - Not Attending will result in 4 hour
  • Saturday School (Admin. will assign Sat. School)
  • Teacher gives referral to student
  • Student must sign
  • Parent(s) must be contacted by teacher
  • Teachers submit referral to attendance office
  • Examples of use Tardiness, Cutting Class,
  • Inappropriate Behavior, etc.
