What is Bluetooth?
  • Bluetooth is a low-cost, low-power wireless
    networking technology designed to be used in a
    persons operating space, i.e. the space around a
    person that typicallyextends up to 10 meters in
    all directions.

Project goals
  • Expand an existing OPNET model for simulating a
    Bluetooth scatternet (piconets network), in
    various topologies.
  • Examine and compare statistics for various
    scheduling algorithms in the scatternet and find
    the most efficient one.
  • Optional- suggest a new algorithm to compete with
    the existing ones.

Current Status
  • Got familiar with the OPNET simulator, bluetooth
    specification
  • Learning the existing code for basic Scatternet
    model.(R.K,L.H)
  • various scheduling algorithms for simulation were
    chosen
  • A basic Scatternet topology was designed

  • This semester
  • Expanding the basic topology to include the
    Bridge-Master component

  • Impelent the various scheduling algorithms in the
    OPNET simulator
  • Define the comparing parameters to be evaluated
    during simulation
  • Run simulations and analize results
