respect issues are in your areas at the moment
  • Understand what support you need to enable you to
    share good practice
  • Provide you with the a taster of an approach for
sharing good practice action learning and see
whether it would be useful to introduce action

3
What is Action Learning?
  • A method of problem solving and learning in
groups to bring about change for individuals,
    teams and organisations.
  • Working in small groups, people tackle important
organisational problems or issues and learn from
    their attempts to change things.
  • Action Learning is based on an experiential
    approach to learning
  • There is no learning without action and no
(sober and deliberate) action without learning
    (Reg Revans)

4
What makes an effective learning set?
  • Each person should join the group and take part
    voluntarily
  • Each person must own a managerial or
organisational problem on which they want to act
  • The group should meet to help each other think
    through issues and create options
  • Members MUST take action and learn from the
    effects of that action
  • There must be vision and will from the top
including a commitment to support and supply any
    resources required.
