Why de-mystify HEIs?

• Employers found
• HE providers to be impenetrable and off-putting
• they did not know whom to approach within HE
  providers
• they were unaware of what HE providers could
  offer
• funding regimes, qualifications and accreditation
  (etc) baffling
• unacceptable level of customer service
• the link between skills enhancement and
  commercial benefit difficult to understand
• particularly SMEs could not work with HE
  timescales

• Contribute to our effort to widening
  participation
• Help institutions to grow income from business
  through increased Continuing Professional
  Development and thereby diversify funding sources
• Help institutions establish new relationships
  with business, which may lead to other
  opportunities in terms of knowledge transfer
  activities, RD contracts and consultancy
  services
• Address the demographic dip from 2010, which will
  mean universities competing for fewer 18 year old
  entrants and therefore focusing on older and
  returning students
