Good Tour has four parts

audience is visiting your home. You want them
to feel comfortable but stay within your rules .

7
Staging should cover
  • Greeting people
  • Provide opportunity to use restroom, take group
    pictures, etc.
  • Inform group of any special rules they need to be
    aware of
  • Inform group of tour length and where they will
    be when tour is finished
  • Tell them of physical requirements
  • Find out what group interests are

8
  • Introduction
  • Starting point of your tour. Besides introducing
the theme of your tour, the introduction gives
your audience focus to what they are going to
see and experience while on their tour.

9
Introduction should
  • Orient the audience to the theme of the tour
  • Create interest in the topic
  • Tell the group a little about some of the things
    they will see
  • Sets the stage for the conclusion
  • Repeats some of the information said during the
    staging period.

10
  • The tour body
  • As the main part of the tour, this is where you
develop the theme and ideas of the tour.

11
Tour Body should
  • Select stops ahead of time that support your
    theme
  • BE SELECTIVE about the information you impart at
    each stop.
  • Be flexible to take advantage of those
    teachable moments to answer spontaneous
questions or capitalize on an unexpected
    opportunity.

12
  • The conclusion
  • Closure and comments which might encourage
visitors to do more exploration on their own.

13
Conclusion will
  • Reinforce the theme
  • Show one last time the relationship between the
theme and the things your audience saw
  • Be short and specific!!!
  • Signal a clear ending to the tour.
