• Search Panel- Use to find places and directions
• Overview Map- Use for an additional perspective
• Hide/Show sidebar- Click to conceal or display
  side bar
• Placemark- Click to add a placemark
• Polygon- Click to add a polygon
• Path- Click to add a path
• Image Overlay- Click to add an image
• Measure- Click to measure distance
• Email- Click to email view or image
• Print- Click to print current view
• Navigation Controls- Use to tilt, zoom and move
• Layers Panel- Use to display points of interests
• Places Panel- Use to locate, save, and organize
  placemarks
• 3D Viewer- View the globe and terrain
• Status Bar- View streaming status

Launch Google Earth and Create a Folder

• Launch Google Earth
• Add gt Folder
• Name your folder
• e.g., Valley Forge Field Trip

Fly To a Destination

• Select the Fly To tab
• Enter a destination
• e.g., 8th Street and Lehigh Avenue, Philadelphia,
  PA

Insert a Placemark

• Add gt Placemark (or click on the pushpin icon)
• Name the placemark
• e.g., Julia de Burgos Bilingual Middle School
• Change the Style and Color
• Choose a different icon type (click on the
  placemark icon to the right of Name)
• While the placemark icon is blinking, you can
  move it around on the screen

Enter Text into Your Placemark

• Right Click on the placemark icon gt Select
  Properties
• In the Description box, type your text
• e.g., Welcome! Today we are taking a field trip
  to Valley Forge National Park.
• Click OK
• Now, when you click on the placemark icon your
  text will appear

Organize Your Folder

• Double check to make sure that your placemark is
  within your folder

Fly to Your Next Destination

• Fly To tab gt Type the address or name
• e.g., Valley Forge, PA
• Add gt Placemark
• e.g., Washingtons Headquarters

Add Video Content to Your Placemark

• Search for a video in unitedstreaming

• Select a video
• Go to Video Segments
• Right click on the Play Button (green icon) next
  to your segment
• Select Copy Shortcut

• Return to Google Earth and open the Properties
  box of your placemark
• Type some text in the Description box
• Right click gt Paste
• Remember In unitedstreaming you selected Copy
  Shortcut which copied the url of your video
  segment. Now, you are pasting that url into your
  placemark.
• Now, when you click on the placemark icon your
  text will appear with the link to the video
  segment

• In addition to videos, you can also add quizzes
  and assignments to your placemark

• Create your own or search
• If you search, simply copy the quiz or assignment
  into your folder in My Content

• Go to My Content and open the quiz
• It will open the Quiz Summary
• Copy the URL

• Type some text in the Description box

  text will appear with the link to the quiz or
  assignment

• Go to unitedstreaming and search for images
• Find an image and click Preview
• Copy the URL of the image

• Give the overlay a name
• Paste the link (i.e., the URL from your

• Resize and reposition the image using the light
  green anchors

• The order (top-down) is important. First one
  shows first (e.g., Julia de Burgos Bilingual
  Middle School goes first)
• Play the tour
