Gender Differences
  • Baby girls in the first few hours of life are
    much more interested in people and faces while
    baby boys are happy if objects are dangled in
    front of them.
  • On average girls say their first words and learn
    to speak in short sentences earlier than boys.
  • Boys are more active, preferring motion while
    girls prefer communication.

Boy Troubles
  • Boys have growing spurts that affect their ear
    canals causing periods of hearing loss.
  • There are fewer connections in the male brain
    between the left and right hemispheres making it
    harder for boys to express their emotions
    verbally.
  • Boys testosterone levels rise sharply between 11
    and 13. Characteristics are boisterous
    behaviour, competition, self-confidence and
    risk-taking.
