Speech Recognition Recommendations

• Use Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical version 9.5.
• Have at least 2GB RAM if using Windows XP and 3GB
  RAM if using Vista (improves speed).
• Use a high quality noise cancelling microphone
  (improves accuracy) with a USB translator device

• Use DragonPad while dictating and then paste text
  into Powerchart EMR (faster and more accurate
  then dictating directly into Powerchart).
• Diligently correct all DragonPad text prior to
  pasting.
• Run the acoustic optimizer after 4-6 weeks of
  dictation with correction (will dramatically
  improve recognition if user has been diligent
  with error corrections).

Use Command Browser to create your own text
macros any length of free text that then
inserts with a single command.
Example speaking normal six ROS will type out
a full review of six systems. (Applies only to
Dragon Medical 9.x. Dragon 9 Preferred does not
have these tools.)

Command Type Text and Graphics allows creation
of free text of any length.
Type text in a word processor and then paste into
the content box if you want special formatting
such as special font and font-size, etc.
Otherwise text is 8.5 size (very small)
