IPLS Changes

• The multicast mp2p PW type is changed from
  IPLayer2Transport (IPL2T) to Ethernet
• All ARP and multicast frames are sent over
  multicast PW with Ethernet headers.
• A copy of ARP and link local multicasts packets
  are sent to control plane for local CE discovery.
• No changes to setup of unicast mp2p IPL2T PW
  for each locally discovered CE.

IPLS Simplified

• Changes eliminate need for PE to proxy for ARP
• Packets received over multicast PW are simply
  replicated to local ACs present in IPLS instance
• Eliminated the need to construct multicast MAC
  address from IP multicast address for packets
  received over multicast PW

IPLS Pending

• Propose IANA type code point 0x096C from LDPs
  TLV Type Name Space to signal IP and MAC address
  of the locally discovered CE during IPL2T PW
  signaling
• Propose IANA status code point 0x0000002A from
  LDPs State Code Name Space to signal update of
  IP and MAC address of the CE in LDPs
  Notification message.

Conclusion

• Make necessary changes in the draft for IANA code
  points
• Send request to MPLS WG to review the proposed
  assignments of IANA code points
• Issue final call with the changes
