  • Theme. Psychological states of Societe General
    staff.
  • The state of mental and physical health is an
    essential factor of successful professional
    activity.
  • Being aware of current level of psychological
    and physical health of staff is needed for the
    professional selection, recruitment, assessment,
    reserve formation, career guidance, improvement
    of employees and organization in whole working
    capacity and increasing productivity.

The idea and urgency of IPRS project
  • PsyWay Team propose organization of Internal
    Psychological Rest Service. IPRS is psychological
    way of dealing with human functional state and
    working capacity.
  • Nowadays in dynamic environment work stress can
    be very hard, especially in crisis situation,
    when people are under the pressure every moment.
  • IPRS project is really very important for healthy
    atmosphere in the team and for good business
    performance.
  • It's very useful for every employee to know the
    techniques of dealing with functional states,
    working capacity and to keep life work balance.

Link with the banking industry
  • SG is the complex structure where employees work
    hard and often under the pressure to meet goals.
    IPRS should avoid suffering from stress,
    exhaustion, tension, professional burning out,
    that can occur.
  • PsyWay propose to assess functional states of SG
    staff, to cope with functional states of lowered
    working capacity by using adequate means
    (differential approach to each state), to keep
    and take care of optimal working capacity
    functional states.
  • Improvement of the level of staff working
    capacity will increase business results.

Methodology
  • Method. IPRS will use structural integrative
    approach to human state, which proposes
    assessment and improvement of 4 state performance
    indicators physiological, psychological
    (including cognitive and reflexive),
    psychophysiological and behavioral.
  • Means of action. External and internal
    psychological techniques (trainings on
    psychological self-regulation skills, functional
    music, relaxation videos, multimedia programs,
    reflexological method, massage and est.).

First steps of IPRS project
  • (February, 2009)
  • Intranet Forum on IPRS project was opened in BSGV
    (Russia). The themes of discussion were
    advantages, disadvantages, abilities and limits
    of IPRS project.
  • Research on typical functional states among BSGV
    employees. It was decided to make the research on
    typical functional states of BSGV employees
    during working day. The assessment procedure was
    made by combining different methods developed by
    psychologists of Lomonosov Moscow State
    University.
  • Trainings on self-regulation skills results.
    First trail trainings on self-regulation skills
    took place among BSGV employees. To make effect
    of the trainings obvious PsyWay team assessed
    employees functional states before and after
    training.

Intranet Forum on IPRS project
  • BSGV employees were very interested in this
  • topic and kindly left their comments on BSGV
    Intranet Forum. There were aproximatly 350
    previews and 20 comments.
  • The employees shared with their own spontaneously
    formed ways of self-regulation such as speaking
    with colleagues, watching through the window,
    doing exercises, listening to the music and
    changing of activity.
  • The participants of discussion approved ideas of
    well-equipped Rest rooms and industrial
    gymnastics.

Research on typical functional states
  • PsyWay team made the research on typical
    functional states of BSGV staff. The research was
    held among 18 employees of Call-center.
  • This diagram shows the problem areas. They are
    high level of Mind tiredness, Situational
    anxiety, Pose tonic tension, few Positive
    emotions, Negative emotions presence, low level
    of Subjective comfort.
  • To improve these indicators BSGV can use the
    whole range of relaxation activities proposed by
    PsyWay Team.

Trainings on self-regulation skills results
  • Trainings on self-regulation skills took place
    among 15 BSGV employees.
  • The diagram shows that indicators of Mind
    tiredness, Physical tiredness, Situational
    anxiety, Pose tonic tension, Negative emotions
    fell after all trainings.
  • Indicators of Positive emotions and Subjective
    comfort were increased after all trainings.
  • These data confirm three methods of relaxation
    used by PsyWay Team have positive effect.
  • But there were no cardinal changes by the reason
    of small amount of procedures. For the brightest
    performance of the techniques application effect
    constant usage of these methods is necessary.
  • PsyWay Team used techniques directed towards
  • toughening and relaxation of all muscle groups
  • imagining toughening and relaxation of all muscle
    groups
  • imagining whole situations or stories (at the
    beach, on the meadow, near the fireplace).

Benefits and execution period
  • Benefits. Improved business results and raised
    living standards.
  • Execution period. Organization of IPRS is
    inexpensive and will take 3 month. The project is
    designed for long term goals once and for all.
