The Association for Womens Career Development in
Hungary
  • The goals of AWCDH
  • to further the equality of women in the field of
    career development, and
  • in the achievement of leading positions
  • to communicate the EU-requirements and
  • to promote the implementation of them
  • to advance the dialogue between legislation,
    government, the profit- and non-profit sphere and
    academics as well as all potential stakeholders
    of AWCDH.

Objectives
  • The Association for Women's Career Development in
    Hungary acting upon the Roadmap for equality
    between women and men and the Lisbon Strategy of
    the European Union, and pursuing the objectives
    set at the UN's Fourth World Conference on Women,
    wishes to draw attention to the fact that the
    employment of women is not only an equality issue
    but is also an economic requisite for further
    development.
  • We wish to inform stakeholders of the economic
    sphere about the advantages of equality projects.
  • With "The Best Workplace for Women" Award we aim
    to map out the best practices that may be
    implemented by any company.

Criteria
  • Companies operating in Hungary were invited to
    participate in two categories
  • 50-250 employees
  • over 250 employees
  • participation in the survey for the award was
    free of charge
  • Assessment criteria
  • career opportunity, promotion
  • opportunities to preserve health and well-being
  • skill development opportunities
  • reconciliation of work and private and family
    life
  • the companies also presented their achievements
    in the field of CSR in their applications.
  • The Evaluation Committee was chaired by Dr.
    Judit Demeter, Chairwoman of the Equal Treatment
    Authority. The 10 applications were evaluated
    based upon the employee and manager
    questionnaires, the complexity and the
    sustainability of the implemented actions.

    AND DEVELOPMENT Conference
  • The Award Ceremony of the BEST WORKPLACE FOR
    WOMEN 2007 was held as part of a Conference on
    21th February, 2008, in the Delegation Room of
    the Hungarian Parliament.

Positive reception in the media
  • The announcement of the Award generated curiosity
    in the media the weeklies Nok Lapja and Figyelo,
    and the daily paper Világgazdaság not only
    published the call for applications but also
    devoted quite a number of pages to the issues of
    womens equality and career opportunities
  • The press was monitoring both the assessment of
    the applications and the Award Ceremony
  • The Award Ceremony helped to bring the issues at
    hand into the center of media attention
  • All press releases and articles dealing with the
    Award in an objective and supporting manner
  • The Prize Winners drew on this positive, new
    message in their company communication as well,
    taking many opportunities to present and publish
    the message

  • read about the Best Workplace for Women Award and
    its results in the press.
  • The Award was presented in the printed and
    electronic press for the total value of 50
    million forints.
  • This value does not include the cost of press
    releases initiated by the Prize Winners
    themselves. (For instance, Budapest Bank was
    mentioned 28 times as one of the winners of the
    Award in the national press.)
