Directions for Monthly Budget Slide

1. This is your first entry level occupation out of
   school -from your career exploration assignment.
   What was your entry level earnings (average
   annual salary)?
2. Divide your entry level annual salary by 12 to
   get your monthly salary. This is what you have
   to work with for your monthly budget (bottom of
   your budget spreadsheet).
3. Now fill in the blanks for each expense entry.
   Make sure you divide each entry by your monthly
   salary to get the percentage on income, which
   should be added to the cell- to the right of the
   expense amount on your spreadsheet. (See example).

• 4. Now it is time to do some research. How much
  do people pay for apartment rent in the city that
  you want to live? Do you want to buy a new car?
  What would your payment be? Gas and insurance?
  How could you find out what your utility costs
  might be? Use google search engine the
  internet, talk to parents, and older friends that
  are out on their own? Share your results with
  classmates.
